WARNING: The following contains spoilers for American Gods Season 3, Episode 5, “Sister Rising,” which aired Sunday on Starz.

The latest episode of American Gods, "Sister Rising," reunites many established characters from the series. While all of the reunited characters have appeared throughout Season 3, for many of them, this is the first time they've seen each other since Season 2, with Demeter and Mr. Wednesday being an exception.

Bilquis and Shadow

After having mysterious dreams featuring deities like Bilquis, Shadow Moon decides to search for her; however, he runs into a complication. Bilquis has been kidnapped, so he teams up with Technical Boy to save her; however, Bilquis is no damsel in distress. Empowered by Oshun, an Orisha god, Bilquis endures the mental torture of her captors before she and the Orisha fill her cell with water, drowning her tormentors. While Shadow comes to her rescue, Bilquis has it under control, so instead, the two catch up over dinner, with Bilquis encouraging Shadow to be his true self, not the person people want him to be.

Wednesday and Demeter

While Wednesday and Demeter had their big reunion in Season 3, Episode 3, "Ashes and Demons," she turned down the Allfather's offer to leave the mental health facility, believing he came to her for money, not love. Despite this, Wednesday is not giving up on his former wife, devising a heist to free Demeter and her funds from her conservator. While Shadow and Cordelia get to work outside the facility, Wednesday has been checked into Demeter's retreat as a patient, striking a deal with her. If he can last a week here, then she will give him one night to convince her to leave with him. With Shadow and Cordelia's heist a success, it's now on Wednesday to convince the goddess to leave.

Laura, Salim and Ibis

american gods season 3

While Salim has been tagging along with Ibis throughout Season 3, initially going to him in hopes of finding the Jinn, Salim is now searching for a new purpose, even proposing that he become Ibis' new business partner, which Ibis does not want. Thankfully, the newly resurrected Laura Moon arrives and asks if either of them know where Wednesday is, since she plans to kill him. Ibis, eager to get rid of Salim, tells Laura where Wednesday may be, and he encourages that Salim go with her to start a new journey.

Shadow and Laura

While Ibis does not know where Wednesday is exactly, he knows that Lakeside is a place on interest for the Allfather. Laura follows Ibis' advice, ending up in Mabel's diner. Shadow has also returned to Lakeside after the success of his and Cordelia's heist, stopping by Mabel's for a bite to eat, thus running into his former wife. While she's primarily looking for Wednesday, Shadow and her have a complicated history, and he could be key to finding the Allfather. This is also the first time they've seen each other since she's fully come back to life, with her primarily being a walking corpse in Seasons 1 and 2; however, last time they saw each other, Shadow was done with Laura, so it's unclear how he'll react to her return at the time of this writing.

Based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Ian McShane, Omid Abtahi and Ashley Reyes. The series airs Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
