WARNING: The following contains spoilers for American Gods Season 3, Episode 4, "The Unseen," which aired Sunday on Starz.

While Laura Moon died again in Season 3, Episode 1, "A Winter's Tale," she was sent to Purgatory in Episode 3, "Ashes and Demons," proving American Gods is far from down with the dead wife, and Episode 4, "The Unseen," hammers home that destiny has grander plans for Laura. It also gives her yet another chance at life, but this time, things are significantly better.

Waiting for whatever lies beyond Purgatory, Laura is tormented by a song stuck in her head, which happens to be the song that was playing during her memories of her father's affair. No one seems to know what she is humming except for the Purgatory guide who played back her memories. He claims its called "Requiem of Balder," but Laura isn't satisfied with this answer, wondering why it was playing in the background of her memories.

"You have a powerful destiny," the Purgatory guide tells her while her ashes, Sweeney's blood and Baron Samedi's potion mix together back on Earth. He also adds that she attracts powerful enemies, which makes sense since the first time she was killed it was because of Mr. Wednesday, a war god.

She continues to ask about the song, wondering if it's a war god fight song, but before she can get any answers, she is resurrected once more; however, this time she is not a walking corpse. She is a living, breathing person who has all her senses back once more. With the potion properly working, it's also confirmed Laura loved Sweeney, since it could only work using the blood of one's true love. While Laura is in denial of her feelings, the sentimental montage she has earlier of him seems to support this. Later on, she also collects Sweeney's ashes, carrying them with her on her journey for revenge.

Season 2 ended with her wanting to exact vengeance on Wednesday, even trying to get Bilquis on her side to no avail.  Meanwhile, Season 3 started off with her attempting to bring Sweeney back to life so he could help her kill Wednesday. This episode cements her mission has not changed, as she leaves the cemetery on the note that she needs to see a man about a song. Given what she learned in Purgatory, it's implied she's going after Wednesday, and this could be what destiny wants from her.

Along with destiny giving Laura a second chance at revenge, the song itself is telling. Afterall, in Norse mythology, Balder is Odin's son and a beloved god who physically gives off light. Similarly, Shadow Moon, Laura's former husband, was revealed in the Season 2 finale to be Wednesday's son, and until this episode, Laura has previously been able to track him because he emitted a bright light she could see from great distances, so there may be a connection between her destiny and Shadow.

Another thing to consider is that Balder dies in the mythology at the hands of Loki, so "Requiem for Balder," is a song in remembrance of the god. Given Balder's tragic end, in theory, Laura's destiny could also be leading to another tragedy. Regardless of what her role is, destiny has plans for the resurrected, vengeful woman.
