"American Gods" has found its Vulcan.

Veteran actor Corbin Bernsen ("Psych") has been tapped to play Vulcan in Starz's upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman's award-winning 2001 novel "American Gods." Described as a close ally to Mr. Wednesday (the Norse God, Odin in disguise), Vulcan is the god of fire and metalworking -- and he's made himself quite comfortable in today's world.

"American Gods" is the story of gods that literally walk among us; there are the mythological "Old Gods" and the more modern gods of technology and money, referred to as the "New Gods."

The plot of the story centers on Shadow Moon, a convict hired as a bodyguard for the mysterious fellow named Mr. Wednesday (to be played by Ian McShane). As Shadow Moon is soon to find out, Mr. Wednesday is actually the Norse god, Odin, in disguise. Wednesday's on a mission across America to gather supporters, and his forces, in a coming war between the "Old gods" and the "New Gods."

"American Gods" produced by Bryan Fuller and starring Corbin Bernsen, Ian McShane, Gillian Anderson, Emily Browning and Dane Cook premieres on the Starz network in 2017
