Colman Domingo has joined AMC's "Fear The Walking Dead" in a recurring role, Deadline reports.

In this "Walking Dead" spinoff, Domingo will play a character named Strand, who is described as "a smart and sophisticated man with a mysterious past." He joins a growing cast that includes Mercedes Mason, Ruben Blades, Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. His past credits include "Selma," "Lincoln" and "True Crime."

AMC has already given the series a two season order, meaning that viewers may eventually see how the LA-based "Fear" synchs up with the Atlanta-set "Walking Dead." Before that happens, however, viewers will get to see a show set in pre-apocalypse times, as revealed in the series' first photos.

"Fear the Walking Dead" debuts this August on AMC.
