AMC to Livestream Walking Dead Premiere For Dish Customers

The battle between AMC and Dish has been a long and much-publicized one, but at least the network is doing its best to not make subscribers lose out. After countless "Change your cable provider if you want to watch The Walking Dead" ads plastered on television and across the Internet, AMC is offering a solution: Dish subscribers can register to livestream the Season 3 premiere of The Walking Dead for free.

AMC made the announcement today, encouraging Dish customers to go to this website to find out what they need to do to be a part of the free livestream. It's doubtful the network will continue to do this for every episode, but it's made a strong campaign to let the viewers it lost in the Dish feud know AMC wants them back.

Here's AMC's official statement about the situation: "To gain leverage in an unrelated lawsuit, Dish has decided to deny their customers access to AMC shows including The Walking Dead, the series that has shattered basic cable ratings records. Although The Walking Dead is the #1 basic cable scripted drama for DISH customers, DISH has stated it has no plans to bring back AMC. Dish customers who want to watch the entire season at the same time as the rest of the country should switch television providers now … time is running out.”

Okay, we get it. Really, AMC. This sort of feels like that high school break-up that got too messy for its own good. At least AMC is doing something positive about it now, because it might not be as easy as the network thinks for subscribers to jump ship and find a new cable provider instead of Dish. At this point in time, though, we're all just really sick of hearing about this situation.

The 16-episode season, which premieres Oct. 14, follows Rick and the other survivors as they come across the West Georgia Correctional Facility — aka the Prison — and hope that it can be the safe haven from the undead that they’ve been hoping for. But things aren’t as they appear, as it turns out that a greater threat looms in the form of the leader of the nearby town of Woodbury, The Governor.

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori Grimes, Laurie Holden as Andrea, Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, Steve Yeun as Glenn, Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier, IronE Singleton as T-Dog Douglas, Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene, Emily Kinney as Beth Greene, Scott Wilson as Hershel Greene, David Morrissey as The Governor, Danai Gurira as Michonne and Michael Rooker as Merle Dixon.
