AMC has tapped Alan Taylor, director of Thor: The Dark World, to helm its upcoming Interview With the Vampire series.

According to Variety, Taylor will direct the first two episodes of the series, which is based on Anne Rice's novel of the same name. He is also listed as an executive producer on Season 1.

"We are assembling a true dream team of talent on Interview with the Vampire, from Rolin Jones to Mark Johnson and now with the addition of Alan, a director with a body of work that could basically break IMDb, not to mention Anne Rice's extraordinary stories and characters, which have captivated so many millions of fans from around the world. We are so excited to be where we are on this series, and there is so much more to come."

In addition to directing multiple episodes of Mad Men, Taylor's other television credits include The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, The West Wing and Lost.

AMC's Interview With the Vampire will consist of eight episodes, with the network currently eyeing a 2022 debut on both AMC and AMC+.

Published in 1976, the Interview With the Vampire novel centers on Louis de Pointe du Lac, a 200-year-old vampire. The novel recounts his life story over the course of an interview with an unnamed reporter. A film adaptation from Warner Bros. was released in 1994, directed by Neil Jordan and starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst.
