The Image Comics series Farmhand, created by Rob Guillory (Chew), has been picked up for development into a potential television series by AMC.

During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, AMC announced that they were developing a television adaptation of Farmhand through its AMC Scripted Inclusion Initiative to promote greater diversity among its programming. Development on the series will be overseen by Into the Badlands executive producer and writer LaToya Morgan; Guillory is attached to write the pilot episode and executive produce the series.

"I couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Farmhand to AMC," said Guillory in a written statement. "I knew if I was ever going to adapt Farmhand, I’d need partners whose bold vision preserved and complemented my own, and I’ve found that with LaToya Morgan and the fine folks at AMC. Their enthusiasm for this project has been absolutely infectious, and I think together we’re going to make a show that is very unique and very special.”

Launched in July 2018, Farmhand follows young father Ezekiel Jenkins who is drawn back into the family's cash crop business of growing organic body parts for medical use. However, as Ezekiel reunites with his estranged father, it becomes clear there are more bloody, sinister secrets running through the soil.
