AMC Entertainment will celebrate the theater chain's 100th anniversary by offering 15-cent tickets when it reopens more than 100 locations on August 20.

As part of its Centennial Celebration, AMC stated, "All AMC U.S. theater locations that open on Aug. 20 will offer all available seats for all movies that day for the 1920s admission price of 15 cents each (while offered on all available seats, to achieve social distancing overall seating capacity will be significantly reduced)." CEO Adam Aron also added, "We are thrilled to once again open our doors to American moviegoers who are looking for an opportunity to get out of their houses and apartments and escape into the magic of the movies."

AMC Entertainment started operations in 1920, when the Dubinsky Brothers opened a single movie screen in Kansas City, Missouri. The company has since become the largest exhibitor in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

Other promotions being launched after Aug. 20 include the re-release of iconic titles such as Inception, Black Panther, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Grease and Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back — for $5. AMC will also be offering a variety of $5 food and beverage combos to draw movie fans back to the big screen, and members of AMC Stubs can earn double points on all ticket and concessions purchases through October.

An additional 300 AMC locations are expected to reopen around the country in the next two weeks, ahead of the release of Disney's The New Mutants on Aug. 28 and Warner Bros.' Tenet on Sept. 3. The remaining locations are awaiting authorization by state and local officials.
