The voice cast for Amazon's animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker's Invincible has been confirmed along with several surprising additions.
Steven Yeun will star as the titular superhero, whose civilian alter ego is Mark Grayson, with J.K. Simmons cast as his father, Omni-Man. Additionally, Mark Hamill and Sandra Oh have been announced as part of the cast in undisclosed roles.
Previous reports had listed Yeun among the voice cast along with rumors that Khary Payton, Zachary Quinto and Clancy Brown would be included but the latter actors are not among the official announced voice cast.
Created by Kirkman and Walker in 2003, Invincible tells the story of high schooler Mark Grayson whose father happens to be the world's greatest superhero. As Mark begins to develop superpowers of his own, he learns his father may not be entirely what he appears. Artist Ryan Ottley replaced Walker starting with the series' eighth issue which ran for a total of 144 issues before concluding last year.
An adaptation of the Skybound Entertainment superhero comic of the same name, Invincible is developed for television by Simon Racciopa who serves as the animated series' showrunner with Kirkman executive producing. The series stars Steven Yeun, Mark Hamill, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder. It is expected to premiere sometime in 2020 on Amazon.
