Sources say The CW, unhappy with the current pilot script, may be waiting on Allan Heinberg's final version before signing off on "Amazon."

Earlier today during The CW's announcement of its pilots for the 2013-2014 season, the "Wonder Woman"-inspired origin show "Amazon" was nowhere to be seen. While Deadline reported the network chose to roll the project to the next season, The Hollywood Reporter cites sources as saying there's still a chance "Amazon" will air starting this Fall.

According to THR's sources, the network wasn't happy with the script and is currently waiting for a final version from series writer Allan Heinberg. The CW is still holding a slot open for "Amazon," and sources say it's still very much on the table for a possible fall 2013 release. However, the possibility also exists that it will air midseason or beyond.

Earlier this month, CW President Mark Pedowitz updated reporters on "Amazon" during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, stating the show would be set in the present day and casting for the lead actress was well under way.

"Amazon" will be the third DC Comics-inspired series to launch on The CW, following in the footsteps of "Smallville" and this season's "Arrow." Should the pilot fail to take off at the CW, it will be the second "Wonder Woman"-based television series not to launch, following David E. Kelley's attempt in 2011 for an NBC series based on the character.
