Emails from Amazon recently sent out to consumers indicate that not everyone who pre-ordered Sony's upcoming Playstation 5 through may receive one on launch day.A few customers, such as Twitter users Geoff Keighley and Wario64, have reported receiving identical e-mails from Amazon Customer Service, warning that they may not receive the console on the day of release, despite their pre-orders. The emails explain that this is due to "high demand." Amazon Customer Service also promised, "We'll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released."RELATED: Sony Confirms PlayStation 5 Will Not Be Backwards Compatible With PS1-3

The possibility of delayed pre-orders seems to apply to both versions of the Playstation 5 since Keighley and Wario64 each placed pre-orders for the two different versions of the console. Wario64 had ordered the regular console and Keighley had purchased the Digital Edition, the latter of which has a lower price tag and does not include the capacity to play physical copies of games, CDs, Blu-rays and DVDs.

These reports come soon after Sony released a statement to debunk rumors that supplies of the Playstation 5 had been limited due to a manufacturing flaw. Additionally, Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan recently told The Washington Post that Sony would avoid the same scarcity issues that hit the Playstation 4 upon its 2013 release, even with the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The PlayStation 5 goes on sale Nov. 12 from Sony. The version with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will retail for $499 USD, while the Digital Edition without a disc drive will retail for $399.
