Upload is getting a second season. The science-fiction dramedy, created by Greg Daniels of The Office and Parks and Recreation, was renewed exactly one week after its first season premiered on Amazon Prime.

The series focuses on coder Nathan Brown, portrayed by Robbie Amell (Code 8, The Flash). Nathan suffers a car accident and his wealthy girlfriend Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) chooses to upload his consciousness to the digital "Afterlife" known as Lakeview.

Though Lakeview is billed as a virtual heaven, Nathan grows restless with his relationship and his new life. He strikes up a friendship with his customer support "Angel" Nora Anthony (Andy Allo), who helps him to navigate this new life. As time passes Nathan and Nora learn that his injury may not have been an accident.

“I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next to Nora and Nathan and Ingrid and their 2033 world," Daniels said in a statement. "With this news I can stop drawing my season 2 flip book.”  In addition to serving as showrunner, Daniels executive produces the show with his partner Howard Klein. The show has received mixed reviews so far, with some critics praising its concept but having issues with the execution.
