The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke shared the first photo from Season 3 as production resumes on the Amazon Prime Video series.

The image, which was retweeted by The Boys' official Twitter account, features a massive golden statue of Homelander. While the statue's significance is unclear, numerous fans were quite amused with how the image wound up being cropped on Twitter.

Season 3 of The Boys began filming in late January, at which time Kripke commemorated the occasion with a photo from the airport. "On my way to Toronto to film [Season 3]," he tweeted. "I'm smiling under this. It's all happening." However, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, production on Season 3 is expected to be a major departure from seasons past.

"I think, because of COVID and because we're shooting in the winter, which is going to be a little difficult, it limits us to interior [shooting of scenes], initially," Antony Starr explained. "So it's a very staggered intake of the cast to the shooting schedule this season."

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Aya Cash as Stormfront. Seasons 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
