Amazon has begun taking steps to deliver PlayStation 5 consoles to many UK-based customers who encountered issues with their orders, with many receiving items they did not purchase.

The tech and e-commerce giant has emailed many of those customers, assuring them that a PS5 will be secured for them, according to IGN. "We are pleased to confirm that we will be able to secure a PlayStation 5 for you as a replacement for the order that you didn’t receive," one of the emails stated. "Subject to valid payment, we expect to dispatch your PlayStation 5 within 14 days of your confirmation."

The reports of Amazon taking steps to fulfill the orders come weeks after many in the UK were expecting to receive Sony's newest console but got other items instead. Expecting to see a PS5, people said they discovered air fryers, fitness equipment and even dog food after opening Amazon packages. It is not yet clear what led to customers receiving various products instead of the consoles they ordered.

Within its first two days of launching, the PS5 sold an estimated 2.1 million to 2.5 million units worldwide. Since then, Sony's newest console has been hard to come by. GameStop had a limited supply of PS5's during Black Friday. Sony has announced plans to make more PS5 units available before the end of the year in time for the holiday season.

The PlayStation 5 is now available worldwide. Its Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive retails for $499 USD, while the Digital Edition without a disc drive retails for $399.
