Thanks to a newly-launched dialogue feature by Amazon Prime Video, audiences can better hear the quips of Jack Ryan and other notable characters from various original series on the streaming service.

In a press release issued on Apr. 18, Amazon announced its Dialogue Boost feature, which is now available to all subscribers of the streaming platform. Dialogue Boost allows viewers to increase the volume of dialogue without adjusting sound effects or background music. Though the feature was initially introduced to help Prime customers who struggle with hearing, Dialogue Boost is now available for users who want to customize their listening experiences, using an "AI-based approach" to provide an optimized experience.

While every subscriber has access to the Dialogue Boost feature, it will only be available for select original programming on Prime. Among the shows to boast the enhancer are the popular political action thriller Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan as well as Harlem and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Additionally, Dialogue Boost will be an option for various Prime movies such as Being the Ricardos, Beautiful Boy and The Big Sick.

A Major Addition to Prime Video

In the statement, Amazon claimed Prime Video is "the first global streaming service to offer this feature," though dialogue-boosting features can be found on select smart TVs, high-end theater systems and specialized audio equipment. Furthermore, the company insisted Dialogue Boost is part of its initiative to enhance its technological capabilities and provide a more accessible streaming experience for all. The dialogue-enhancing feature is available for every Prime-supported device. It can be found in the drop-down menu along with the audio and subtitles, with the options including "English Dialogue Boost: Medium" or "Dialogue Boost: High."

Prime Video has been making multiple updates to its website since 2022 when the service enhanced its interface to include new navigation menus and live TV. With the dialogue feature, viewers get a targeted enhancement of specific dialogue rather than the general amplification of a home theater system, further making the website easier to use.

Fans of Jack Ryan, for example, can use Dialogue Boost to rewatch or catch up with Season 3 of the series, which dropped in December 2022. Though Season 4 of the hit series, which stars John Krasinski, was confirmed following its renewal in October 2021, no release date has been confirmed by Prime Video. Last May, it was confirmed that Season 4 would be the final installment of Jack Ryan.

Meanwhile, the feature also comes in time for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5, which premiered via Prime Video on Apr. 14. The comedy-drama, set in 1950s New York City, stars Emmy Award-winning actor Rachel Brosnahan as the titular comedian and housewife.
