Amazon Prime announced its upcoming fantasy drama series, Carnival Row, has been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere on the streaming service.

Carnival Row is set in a Victorian fantasy world where men invaded the world of exotic mythical creatures. These creatures and humans start to clash, with the beings struggling to live, love and fly with freedom.

Rycroft (Orlando Bloom), a human detective, and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) soon begin to rekindle a dangerous love affair in the face of an intolerant society. When a string of murders threatens the peace between humans and creatures, Vignette will be forced to come clean to Rycroft with a secret that endangers him while he works the murder cases.

Rene Echevarria (Star Trek: The Next Generation) will serve as showrunner, while Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim) and Paul McGuigan (Victor Frankenstein) will produce the show's eight-episode first season.

Carnival Row, starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, David Gyasi, Tamzin Merchant, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Artemas Froushan, Carolien Ford, Indira Varma, Jared Harris and Simon McBurney, premieres on Amazon Prime on Aug. 30.
