Amazon Studios has officially greenlit the Zombieland pilot, a half-hour comedy for Prime Instant Video based on the 2009 movie directed by Ruben Fleischer. It will be among the 13 pilots made available for free viewing on Amazon Instant Video and LOVEFiLM UK for customers to provide feedback and help determine which projects will receive a full-season order.
In a well-timed interview with Collider, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick reveal that the pilot picks up two weeks after the end of the film, which followed four survivors of a zombie apocalypse -- played by Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin -- as they make their way across the Southwest to a Los Angeles amusement park said to be free of the undead.
Maintaining the tone of the movie, the Zombieland series would also continue the road-trip approach, with the writers saying they know how it will end, and that it's a journey to a specific destination.
The project stars Kirk Ward as Tallahassee, Majara Walsh as Wichita, Tyler Ross as Columbus and Izabela Vidovic as Little Rock. Eli Craig of Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil directed the pilot.
