Actress Ema Horvath (The Two Hundred Fifth, Like.Share.Follow.) has been cast in Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings television series.

According to Deadline, Horvath's series regular role is currently unspecified. This announcement comes on the heels of other recent castings regarding Amazon's high-fantasy project, such as Game of Thrones alum Joseph Mawle's addition in October.

Amazon's Lord of the Rings series is based on the celebrated fantasy franchise originally penned by J.R.R. Tolkien. The fantasy series has seen a number of adaptations, including an animated film by Ralph Bakshi and an award-winning film series by Peter Jackson, but this will be the property's first venture into television.

Amazon acquired the rights to produce a television show based on the property after a $250 million deal. The series has reportedly been secured for a second season before the first season has entered production. The series is produced by Amazon Studios with Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne as showrunners, with Belén Atienza producing with them.

Horvath got her first big break in 2017 in Blumhouse's Like.Share.Follow., a thriller about a social media star and the obsessive fan who strives to track him down. She starred in the film while still studying drama at Harvard University.

Amazon Studios' Lord of the Rings has yet to receive a premiere date. Production is expected to begin in 2020.
