A new pay-TV deal will bring Universal Pictures new releases to Amazon-owned streaming services.

Amazon and Universal Filmed Entertainment Group have united for a multi-year licensing deal bringing live-action new releases from Universal to Amazon Prime Video beginning in 2022. These titles will initially debut on Peacock before arriving on Prime Video four months afterward. Among the first productions set to be a part of this deal is Jurassic World: Dominion and The 355. A large number of older Universal titles, including entries in the Jurassic Park and Fast & Furious franchises, will also become available to Prime Video subscribers.

Prime Video isn't the only Amazon streaming service to benefit from the deal. IMDb TV will get its own window to stream Universal titles released during 2020 and 2021. This will include hit projects like F9 and The Invisible Man. Certain animated projects from Universal's animation divisions, such as Illumination and DreamWorks Animation, will also be available on IMDb TV.

"We know Prime members love movies and this new deal with UFEG will deliver some of the best films available for our customers," said Brad Beale, Prime Video vice president of worldwide content licensing. "This new slate of UFEG films, including exciting upcoming releases such as Jurassic World: Dominion, The 355, and Ambulance will continue to build upon Prime Video's catalog and delight Prime members, all at no additional cost to their membership."

"Recognizing that all parties would benefit from a modernized windowing structure, this new agreement allows Prime Video and IMDb TV to benefit from UFEG’s vast library and diverse content like never before," added Peter Levinsohn, vice chairman and chief distribution officer, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. "We're thrilled to team up with Amazon to deliver our titles to its customers. This agreement further delivers on our distribution strategy to monetize our unparalleled movie library across multiple services, while offering customers the most choice, control and flexibility in how, when and where they watch films."

This news builds on other recent developments for Universal in the domain of streaming entertainment. These include Peacock solidifying a deal to stream Univeral titles just four months after they debut in theaters as well as Peacock making a deal to bring its app to Amazon Fire TV devices.
