Marvel Comics has given CBR an exclusive preview of Amazing Spider-Man #75, by Zeb Wells and Patrick Gleason. In the preview, Peter Parker encounters Ben Reilly, who is set to take up the mantle of Spider-Man in the "Beyond" arc.
Amazing Spider-Man #75 opens with Peter still reeling from Harry Osborn's death at the end of Nick Spencer's run on Amazing Spider-Man. However, as he starts his patrol, Peter sees Ben Reilly swinging around New York. Unclear on just who is behind the mask, Peter gives chase to Ben.
Crated by Gerry Conway and Ross Andru, Ben Reilly first appeared in 1975's Amazing Spider-Man #149. A clone of Peter Parker, Ben possesses pretty much all of Peter's abilities and, at one point, he even served as Spider-Man. Although Ben has often disappeared from the comics for long periods of time, he recently appeared in Free Comic Book Day: Spider-Man/Venom and Amazing Spider-Man #74, both of which set up "Beyond."
Currently, information about "Beyond" has confirmed Peter will be hospitalized after receiving a major injury. However, Marvel has claimed that, despite rumors, Peter isn't going to die. There are a number of creators involved in the "Beyond" storyline, including Saladin Ahmed, Cody Ziglar and Kelly Thompson.
