WARNING: The following contains potential spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home, in theaters now.

A new rumor claims Andrew Garfield isn't done spinning webs as Spider-Man.

After the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been clamoring for a return of the previous generations of Spider-Man, and it seems that there's a distinct possibility that their wish could come true. Insider Daniel Richtman, who is a known source of information for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, posted a tweet saying that Garfield might not be ready to put down his web-slingers just yet. "I also hear Andrew might come back," Richtman wrote, though he made no mention if it would be for a revival of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man franchise or for a separate project.

Andrew Garfield made his debut as Peter Parker in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, which was a reboot of the original Sam Raimi trilogy. The film performed well at the box office, earning a total of $757.9 million from its worldwide premiere, with critical acclaim given to Garfield in particular for his portrayal of Spider-Man. Its sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was unfortunately not as well-received by critics, who believed that the plot suffered from a convoluted narrative and too many characters.

The disappointing performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was only one of many reasons why the franchise didn't continue. Between the hack of Sony Pictures in 2014 and the ongoing shifts in the company's upper management, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 ended up being delayed to 2016. However, after Sony reached a deal with Marvel that permitted Spider-Man's appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2015, it effectively turned a temporary delay into an outright cancellation.

Despite this rough history, Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker was still beloved by fans. After rumors surfaced that Raimi's and Webb's takes on Spider-Man might both make an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, data revealed that Garfield had earned the most positive tweets out of all the versions of the web-slinger. Fans have even started a petition to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 a reality.

While The Amazing Spider-Man 3 might still be uncertain, Tom Holland's own portrayal of the Queens-based superhero in Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now.
