In a bid to give the westernized version of the classic manga/anime some credibility, Twitchfilm reports offers have already gone out to Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham-Carter. "Gary Oldman has been offered the role of Colonel while Helena Bonham-Carter has been offered Lady Miyako," they write. I hope the actors pass because this story should not be translated into a Hollywood blockbuster.

I guess my position on this project is pretty clear, huh?

Over the weekend, Spinoff Online reported that the unfinished Image miniseries by Mark Millar and Tony Harris has been optioned for feature film treatment. "The six-issue miniseries is set in an alternate timeline during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, when, with casualties mounting and enlistments dwindling, the U.S. military develops an experimental program that gives ordinary soldiers superpowers," they write. "When a group of con artists enlists in the military with a scheme to steal the pills and sell them to foreign buyers, one of the criminal super-soldiers emerges as a hero when their plan goes wrong." The "Doctor Strange" writing team of Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer will pen the script.

Director of Photography Seamus McGarvey tells The Hollywood Reporter that he was misquoted in an Irish Film & Television Network article that claimed he shot part of the film with an iPhone camera. "I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel's The Avengers movie ... Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true," he explains.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely tell The HD Room (via Coming Soon) that the second film will take place in the present day. "[W]e've been left with room to explore Cap entering the modern day wondering, 'What is all this? What's happened to the world' and so on," says Markus. McFeely adds, "Now he's in the now, and there is nothing black-and-white. So what do you do with that guy? How does he react to a much more uncertain time? So you're given this huge new palate to work with, but you can keep him the same."

The official AMC blog talks with Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Lori on the show. "We're filming the bulk of this season on the farm, which is just so beautiful," she says. "You're telling this really gruesome, heart-wrenching story in this magnificent pastoral setting. I get to work a little early and I just throw on my iPod and walk through these amazing fields, watching the sun rise over the trees."

So, I only have enough money in the budget for one of the fall's releases: "Arkham City" or the new "Assassin's Creed." While I find the Batman game to be good fun, I also need my yearly dose of climbing up ancient cities and secret societies. Decisions, decision ... Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of saving up for "Mass Effect 3."
