Showtime has picked up a limited series adaptation of Michael Chabon's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.

According to Deadline, Chabon will write and executive produce the series with his wife, Ayelet Waldman, with the duo serving as showrunners after signing a multi-year deal with CBS TV Studios. Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman also serve as executive producers.

Chabon and Ayelet will also create additional multi-platform projects for CBS TV Studios, with some in various stages of development. These projects include Anna Chlumsky (Veep)'s A Really Good Day at Showtime; Hulu's Behind You by Jacqueline Woodson, a National Book Award winner; the adaptation of The Heavens; and Ghost Ship, which retells the story of a fire at an Oakland, Calif. art collective.

“Ayelet and Michael are two of America’s pre-eminent writers,” CBS Television Studios President David Stapf said in a statement. “From award-winning novels and non-fiction to their television and film collaborations, they have a remarkable body of work. We’re thrilled to have them on our incredibly talented roster."

“The team at CBS Studios is the best we’ve ever worked with,” Waldman and Chabon said in a joint statement. “We’re looking forward with so much excitement to this next phase of our collaboration.”

Chabon, Kurtzman and Goldsman are executive producers on the CBS All Access series Star Trek: Picard.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay stars two Jewish cousins, Joe Kavalier and Sammy Clay, around the time of World War II, who go on to become prominent figures in the comic book industry. A feature film was in the works on two separate occasions, with Stephen Daldry interested in adapting the novel into an HBO series.
