"The Big Bang Theory" does a great job staying connected to its roots as a comic book and pop culture based show. Typically, they do this by referencing popular television shows like "Doctor Who" and The CW's "The Flash" or by bringing on recognizable guest stars like James Earl Jones ("Star Wars") and Wil Wheaton ("Star Trek").

On tonight's episode, titled "The Perspiration Implementation," the writers went a little deeper into the realm of comic books themselves as "The Big Bang Theory" paid homage to comic book artists Amanda Conner and Paul Mounts by featuring one of their illustrations in the episode.

The artwork, known as "Girl on a Leash," is a collaborative piece by Conner and Mounts. Both Conner and Mounts took to social media to celebrate this great achievement.

WooHoo! I have artwork that's gonna be on the Big Bang Theory tonight. SO. RIDICULOUSLY. EXCITED. Eeeeeeee!— Amanda Conner (@AmandaRantsAlot) October 19, 2015

West coasters, you can still catch tonight's Big Bang Theory with art by @AmandaRantsAlot and me in a great scene pic.twitter.com/J6BXUkWlf1— Paul Mounts (@paulmounts) October 20, 2015

Conner is most notably known for her work on DC Comic's "Power Girl" and "Harley Quinn", Mounts' work can be seen in "Fantastic 4" and other Marvel titles.  They are both currently part of the company Paperfilms.
