Though Free Comic Book Day has been postponed due to the spread of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, an alternate event has been developed for fans to enjoy.

Alt FCD, taking place over the course of May 1 and 2, will feature virtual panels with comic book creators and free digital downloads of books. The event will be streamed on Facebook, Twitch and YouTube.

Among the creators in attendance will be writer Marv Wolfman, known for penning the original Crisis on Infinite Earths comic and co-creating Blade, the vampire slayer for Marvel; Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; and Matt Hawkins, President and CCO of Top Cow Comics.

The event was created by Russell Nohelty, a bestselling author, publisher and speaker who serves as the head for Wannabe Press and Neo Edmund, an actor who has appeared on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, who is now a best-selling author, screenwriter and comic book writer.

Free Comic Book Day 2020 was intended to shift to a month-long event by Diamond Comic Distributors. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued, the event was postponed. This digital event is a chance to learn from several creators and read free books.
