Lana Condor is the latest actor with experience at portraying comic book characters on the big screen set to join the cast of the James Cameron-produced and Robert Rodriguez-directed film adaptation "Alita: Battle Angel,"

The actor, who made her film debut as Jubilee in "X-Men: Apocalypse," will join a cast that includes Rosa Salazar (“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” and “Insurgent”), Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Bastards”), Ed Skrein (“Deadpool”), Mahershala Ali (“Marvel’s Luke Cage”), Jorge Lendeborg, Jr. ("Spider-Man: Homecoming") and Keean Johnson (“Nashville”).

Based on the long-running manga series created in 1990 by Yukito Kishiro, the film is set in a post-apocalyptic future and stars Salazar as a cyborg with no memory of her past who is found in a garbage heap. She goes on to use her exceptional martial arts abilities to track down criminals as a bounty hunter.

Condor is set to play Koyomi, who appears in the manga series as an orphaned teen with significant connections to several characters.

“Alita: Battle Angel” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 20, 2018.
