Noah Hawley provided an update on the Alien series he intended to develop for FX.

"I have conversations from time to time but I’m not committed," Hawley told Deadline. When asked if the series had a hard conceit, Hawley said that "nothing is at that stage."

"I know that there’s an effort to reshuffle a lot of things post-Disney takeover and it was a conversation that I had a couple years back," he continued. "And I have not in the last few weeks been having those conversations about it. But I know that like any studio that there’s a great desire to make the most of one’s library so I wouldn’t be surprised to see something like that."

Hawley tried to pitch an Aliens miniseries at FX prior to The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, but it was "fended off" by Fox executive Emma Watts. Despite this, there are plans for a new Alien film with franchise creator Ridley Scott involved. Disney also recently greenlit a new Predator film that will be helmed by Dan Trachtenberg. Hawley, meanwhile, discussed his plans for the series and how he intended to tap into the human drama of the Alien franchise.

Hawley previously developed Fargo for FX, as well as the X-Men-based series Legion. He was also developing a Star Trek film at Paramount Pictures, though that has been put on "the back burner" according to Hawley himself.
