In a bit of a holiday tradition, Fox has debuted a new trailer for Christmas. However, we're forced to admit the first full look at Ridley Scott's "Alien: Covenant" is just a little different than last year's "Deadpool."

There's a lot here for the franchise faithful who may still be coming to terms with "Prometheus," some four years later, as the trailer throws them into some very "Alien"-esque territory before turning, to a haunting rendition of "Nature Boy, to the solitary life of Michael Fassbender's android David. From there, it's an introduction to the crew of the colony ship Covenant, on its way to what's supposed to be a paradise. But of course, this is an "Alien" film, so nobody gets what they hoped for -- except maybe the xenomorph. Or, in this case, the neomorph.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Opening May 19, 2017, "Alien: Covenant" stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby.
