Empire Online has debuted all-new images from the upcoming "Alien" prequel, "Alien: Covenant" -- one of which, shows off the film's new take on the traditional Xenomorph, a fleshy alien-human hybrid referred to as a "Neomorph."

The Neomorph was reportedly inspired by director Ridley Scott's appreciation of nature documentaries on "living nightmares," spotlighting beasts like goblin sharks.

“Some of those nature videos are so stomach-churning that they don’t pay me enough to watch them,” "Covenant" screenwriter John Logan said. “But Ridley will see something to do with insects swarming, for example, which eventually finds its way into a movie. Usually there’s some sort of grotesqueness we find interesting.”

The other two photos feature dozens of the alien pods that were shown in the last "Alien" film, "Prometheus," on the Engineer's planet, while another sees Michael Fassbender's android character David in a flashback scene with Weyland Industries CEO Peter Weyland.

The official synopsis for “Alien: Covenant” reads:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
