A new pair of photos from filmmaker Neill Blomkamp tease a Xenomorph attack and a massive dropship from the Alien franchise. The pictures appear to be concept art from Blomkamp’s ill-fated Alien 5, which would have brought Sigourney Weaver back to the outer space horror series.

Blomkamp’s Alien 5 has long been rumored to be dead in the water, with the series’ creator, Ridley Scott, saying the film will likely never get made. Scott didn’t help the chances of Blomkamp’s Alien film getting greenlit, as his own prequel entry into the series, Alien: Covenant, performed poorly at the box office this year.

These aren’t the only pieces of Alien 5 concept art Blomkamp has released. The director also posted a picture of an updated pulse rifle back in 2015. The pulse rifle is the iconic weapon of the series’ Colonial Marines, first introduced in James Cameron’s Aliens. The new teaser art, combined with the fact that a prototype pulse rifle was fabricated, suggests Blomkamp’s film would have drawn inspiration from Cameron’s action movie take on Alien, rather than Scott’s original film.

Blomkamp hasn’t been sitting on his laurels, though. Over the past year the director has released numerous short films through his company, Oats Studios, some of which, like the short “Zygote,” draw director inspiration from the isolated space horror tone of Alien.
