Alice in Wonderland has been a Disney classic for decades now with its absurdity appealing both to kids and to adults. No wonder the animated film eventually got a live-action adaptation which spawned a sequel and is now considered to be the movie that started the trend of Disney live-action remakes.

And yet, the animated movie is still the best one of the bunch with its bright colors, memorable songs, and decent faithfulness to the original book source material. Moreover, the quotes from this adaptation are absolutely unforgettable no matter how weird they may seem to someone hearing them for the first time.

10 "Of All The Silly Nonsense, This Is The Stupidest Tea Party I've Ever Been To In All My Life."

The tea party is one of the central scenes in the entire movie. In fact, it is probably one of the most absurd parts from the film. Even Alice, who is used to seeing strange things around her by this point, is quick to point this out.

Alice loves to have fun, but even she gets tired of the nonsense that the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse have created at their tea party as they celebrate "unbirthdays"— all the days that don't have their birthdays.

9 "No Wonder You're Late. Why, This Watch Is Exactly Two Days Slow."

Time seems to be an important element in the movie. Even though everything that is going on is quite surreal and it's difficult to keep up with time, it still feels like Alice is going through a lot and it can't just happen in an instant.

Time haunts Alice at every turn. She follows the White Rabbit who is late, the characters around her constantly mention time in some way, and she is always telling everyone in Wonderland that she is late and doesn't have time. The Mad Hatter, of course, takes the time to point out that the White Rabbit's watch is actually late which is why the Rabbit is late. And yet, "two days slow" doesn't make any sense— much like everything in Wonderland.

8 "In My World, The Books Would Be Nothing But Pictures."

The reason why Alice happens to be in Wonderland in the first place is that she falls asleep because she gets tired of the history lesson her sister is giving her.

In their conversation, Alice mentions the way she would make books if she could: In her world, they would only have pictures. Though Alice does have a very good imagination, it seems that books don't really interest her unless they have pictures to illustrate what she otherwise would need to read about herself.

7 "The Time! The Time! Who's Got The Time?"

As mentioned earlier, Alice keeps on telling everyone that she doesn't have time because she needs to return to her sister and she is looking for a way out of Wonderland.

But as she tells that to the tea party attendants, the March Hare blurts out a rhetorical question that infers that nobody ever truly has time. Perhaps this is a reminder to the viewers about the fickle nature of time and how we might not have as much as we think we do.

6 "Why Is A Raven Like A Writing Desk?"

When it comes to the Mad Hatter, he is definitely one of the most memorable characters from the book, the movie, and the live-action adaptation thanks to Johnny Depp's performance. Obviously, he does have some very interesting quotes, but by far his best is that of this riddle.

Alice takes the riddle seriously, but has no answer and asks the Hatter for it. He, in turn, replies that he doesn't know either, and the answer is never given to Alice or the viewers. Of course, actually knowing the answer to the riddle was never the point of it in the first place.

5 "If I Had A World Of My Own, Everything Would Be Nonsense. Nothing Would Be What It Is Because Everything Would Be What It Isn't. And Contrary-Wise; What It Is It Wouldn't Be, And What It Wouldn't Be, It Would. You See?"

Just like her dream of having a world full of books that only contain pictures, Alice's other hope for her own world is even more bizarre and unexplainable.

What's particularly interesting about this quote is that it actually foreshadows Alice getting into Wonderland. Everything in Wonderland is different from the real world as if it was purposefully turned on its head. Because it is a product of Alice's imagination, Wonderland technically is a world of her own— and it's exactly the way she intended it to be.

4 "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Bat / How I Wonder What You're At? / Up Above The World You Fly / Like A Tea Tray In The Sky."

Dormouse is not a character that is seen much or speaks a lot. Most of the time, he is very sleepy and shouldn't be disturbed. But when he does speak out, he sings a song that is yet another element of Wonderland.

It's a variation of the popular English lullaby with the words changed to have an absurd meaning that is so normal for the world of Wonderland and everything in it.

3 "Curiosity Often Leads To Trouble."

Even though Alice is the perfect example of what a curious child could end up doing, she still realizes that curiosity is not always the best thing. In fact, curiosity can often lead to trouble, according to Alice— which is probably something her mother or her sister taught her.

Indeed, Alice's curiosity constantly gets her into trouble while she is in Wonderland. Moreover, the reason why she got into Wonderland is also related to curiosity: If she hadn't followed the White Rabbit, she might have stayed out of it.

2 "Off With Their Heads!"

Apart from Alice, one of the most memorable characters in the movie is the Queen of Hearts. Though she is obviously a tyrant and treats those around her very badly, she is still fun to watch.

Her most well-known phrase is the notorious, "Off with their heads!" which she screams multiple times at multiple characters even for reasons that wouldn't normally lead to death sentences. For her, it's just a whim.

1 "Curiouser And Curiouser."

As mentioned earlier, Alice realizes the danger of curiosity. And yet, she is portrayed as an extremely curious child who is actually well aware of her own sense of curiosity.

While exploring Wonderland, Alice utters the famous, "Curiouser and curiouser" which is absurd from the perspective of the real-world grammar, but for Wonderland, it's the perfect match.
