Alexander Skarsgård is putting away the fangs and putting on his navy blues.
The True Blood actor has signed on for a starring role in Battleship, director Peter Berg's upcoming blockbuster based on the popular board game. Taylor Kitsch was previously cast in the lead role. In the film, Skarsgård will play a straight-laced naval officer who happens to be the older brother of Kitsch's character, a free-spirited navy man. At some point, aliens get involved. Still not sure how that's happening, but, who knows.
The Swedish actor is best known for his True Blood role as Eric Northman, a vampire sheriff in Louisiana and romantic rival of fellow bloodsucker Bill Compton's for the affections of telepath Sookie Stackhouse. Skarsgård also held a lead role in HBO's Generation Kill and was reportedly close to starring in Thor before losing out to Chris Hemsworth.
