Artist Alex Ross has debuted his variant cover for the upcoming milestone issue Detective Comics #1000. Ross is joined by an all-star line up of writers and artists who contributed to the issue, which celebrates Batman's 80th anniversary.
Posted on his Twitter, Ross' cover recreates the original Detective Comics #27 cover. He includes the classic red and yellow background, with the title displayed in bold, white letters. However, his figure work reimagines the Dark Knight in his unique style, as seen in Marvels, Kingdom Come, Justice and Astro City. The exclusive cover will be available for purchase from Ross' website starting February 26th.

After launching in 1937 and serving as one of Batman's primary titles for all eight decades of his existence, Detective Comics is only the second DC title to hit the 1000 issue mark, after Action Comics#1000 was published last year.
DC Comics will also release variant covers from Bill Sienkiewicz, Steve Rude, Michael Cho, Jim Steranko, Bernie Wrightson, Frank Miller, Tim Sale, Jock, Greg Capullo and Bruce Timm. A wraparound cover by Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair will also be released.
Detective Comics #1000 goes on sale March 27.
