IMAX.com has additional information on which theaters will be showing "Rogue One" in IMAX 2D and IMAX 70mm projection.

Disney Chief Robert Iger doesn't project "Rogue One" to do the same level of business as "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," because its story exists outside of the seven previous films. "Rogue One" takes place just before the events of 1977's "Star Wars," and follows a group of REbels as they set out to steal the design plans for the Empire's new planet-destroying weapon, the Death Star.

Directed by Gareth Edwards from a script by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed. The film opens on Dec. 15 in the United Kingdom and on Dec. 16 in North America.
