Surrounding Warner Bros. Discovery's upcoming Black Adam film has been discussions and speculation about the potential return of Superman and the Man of Steel's battle with the DCEU's newest demigod. While audiences might want to see that clash in a film, Black Adam's Aldis Hodge recently stated he wants an entire trilogy.

When asked by Variety how he sees a Black Adam vs Superman fight playing out, Hodge said, "Honestly, I would like to see a build-up to that, if that was to ever come to pass. I want to see at least two to three movies build up to it. And then, in that final film, that final showdown, at least 80 percent of that movie has them fighting it out."

As mentioned in the interview, Black Adam star and executive producer Dwayne Johnson has teased an epic confrontation between Teth-Adam and Clark Kent. He has consistently teased that the upcoming film's titular antihero is the most powerful being on the planet and will inevitably face off against a greater power.

Most recently, he said, "I was also listening to the fans at the same time, where you have Black Adam-- we would create Black Adam for him to be the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet. The most powerful and unstoppable force in the entire universe has been on the sidelines for too long," seemingly hinting at Superman and his absence from the DCEU since 2017's Justice League.

Henry Cavill's Superman

While star Henry Cavill has appeared as Superman in Zack Snyder's Justice League, the 2021 film is not currently considered canon to the DCEU. While nothing has been officially confirmed, reports circulated this past summer that Cavill would don the iconic red cape again in Black Adam and that Cavill remained a favorite at Warner Bros.

Cavill made his debut as Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, which explored the origin story of the Kryptonian. His iteration of the character appeared once again in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which firmly established the DCEU. This was followed by Justice League in 2017, which earned mixed reviews and suffered from numerous issues behind-the-scenes, including a chance in director and heavy studio interference, leading to major rewrites and edits. Since then, Superman has made just one brief appearance, limited to a silent part in Shazam!, which featured the character from the neck down.

Black Adam is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 21.
