Professional wrestler and former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio -- real name Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan -- has been arrested in San Antonio, Texas following allegations that he beat and sexually assaulted a woman "for several hours."

Per WOAI NBC News Channel 4 San Antonio, the woman -- who has not been named and appears to be romantically linked to Chucuan -- alleged in court documents that the wrestler has assaulted here on multiple occasions, as well as provided photo evidence. According to investigators, the most recent incident took place on May 3, after Chucuan accused the woman of infidelity.

As detailed in the arrest paperwork, the woman alleges Chucuan slapped her across the head when she would not confess to being unfaithful, slapped her again, then took her to his bedroom, where he slapped her eight more times. She says that Chucuan then made her put on a dress and ordered her to dance for him. When she refused, Chucuan allegedly told her not to cry, or else he'd take her son and "drop him off in the middle of the road somewhere."

According to local police, Chucuan then proceeded to tie the woman's hands with boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and use various objects to sexually assault her. Investigators say he punched her in the back of the head during this time as well, resulting in visible injuries. The woman says he also placed his hand around her throat at one point, and that she is unable to remember much of what happened after the fact.

After his arrest, Rodriguez Chucuan was formally charged with sexual assault -- a second degree felony -- with bond being set at $50,000. According to police records, Chucuan posted bond and was released from San Antonio's Bexar County jail at 3:30 a.m. this morning. If the 42-year-old were to be convicted of the crime in court, he could face anywhere from two to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

Rodriguez Chucuan made his professional wrestling debut in 2000, joining WWE as Alberto Del Rio in 2008. He was fired from the company in 2014 following an altercation with a WWE employee who allegedly made a racist remark. Del Rio rejoined the company in 2015, before departing again in 2016. He has also performed for such other promotions as AAA, World Wrestling Council, Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling. In 2017, Rodriguez Chucuan was set to defend his Unified GFW World Heavyweight Championship (Global Force Wrestling was active under the Impact banner at the time) before being suspended by the company following a public domestic dispute with his real-life girlfriend at the time, WWE superstar Paige (real name Saraya-Jade Bevis).
