Professor Snape is a key character in the Harry Potter series, an initially one-dimensional, antagonistic schoolteacher who becomes more complex as his history with certain other characters comes to the forefront. He's been brought to life in seven films (plus one more to come) perfectly by the wonderfully talented Alan Rickman. With his involvement in the series now officially over, Rickman has come out with a public goodbye letter to J.K. Rowling and the magical universe she created.
The letter is published in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, a page which of course has been scanned and placed on the Internet for one and all to read (via MovieLine). You can see it up top, so I'm not going to reprint the text again here. I'm going to stand up and give Rickman a nice slowclap for eloquently summing up how he feels about the opportunity he's had to work on such a widely recognized and appreciated franchise. He's all class, that Rickman.
