Last week, fans were treated to photos from Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin, with one of the featured characters being Naomi Scott's Princess Jasmine. Today, another teaser photo has been released, this time via Fandango's Twitter account, offering fans another look at the take-no-bull, tough-as-nails princess, as well as a look at the Sultan, played by Navid Negahban.
In the photo, Jasmine and the Sultan are seen in an extravagant room filled with eye-catching artifacts. The actors themselves wear detailed, colorful costumes. As for the characters, it appears they may be discussing something unpleasant, most likely Jasmine's need to find a husband before her next birthday. From the look on Scott's face, this is a continued subject of annoyance.
In addition to the lavish costumes and set design, it also appears that the film will feature a different take on the Sultan's appearance, as opposed to the short, rotund man from the original animated movie, as well as keeping the friction regarding Jasmine's future between the two. Though, if things work out like in the original version, this Sultan may end up welcoming Aladdin as a son-in-law.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin stars Mena Massoud in the title role, with Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Will Smith as Genie, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as The Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders and Numan Acar as Hakim. The film arrives on May 24.
