Akira, X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern: May 27th Comic Reel

The project has suffered another blow as Deadline reports that director Albert Hughes has walked away from the project. "The intention of the studio is to keep the picture on a fast track, which means they will find a director quickly," they write. "The studio has been wrestling with the approach on the film for the past year." Everyone I know says the best approach is not to adapt it at all.

Comicus.it spoke with Digital Domain about their contribution to the film. "[Sebastian] Shaw's ability to absorb energy in the comics is rather plain, and we wanted to create a much more visual and visceral representation of this power.  Working closely with John Dykstra on the 'kinetic echo,' we decided that Shaw feels extreme pain and discomfort whenever he absorbs energy, but he's able to withstand the pain because he knows he will be able to use it against those trying to hurt him," they explained. Robot 6 has a Superman court case update! On our last episode, Warner Bros was trying to get access to documents stolen from Siegel attorney Marc Toberoff. This week, "U.S. Magistrate Judge Ralph Zarefsky ruled Wednesday that the documents, stolen from the office of attorney Marc Toberoff and delivered anonymously to Warner Bros. in December 2008, were not protected by attorney-client privilege," writes Robot 6's Kevin Melrose. "However, he postponed a final ruling until Toberoff and his attorneys can seek a decision from U.S. District Judge Judge Otis Wright." While the wrangling between Warner Bros and the heirs of Superman's creators might seem a bit "inside baseball," this case forced the studio into fast-tracking the film and, should the heirs regain control of the character, it could change the way future "Superman" films are made.

Following U2's performance on the "American Idol" finale, frontman Bono told reporters that the musical's official debut next month has not been cancelled, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "We're very excited about it. It's almost there -- it will be there by opening night," he said. It better be there, I don't think the show could survive another postponement.
