Many police officers are featured in anime. Even though many characters working in law enforcement might be corrupt or do not actually do their jobs, there are still some that do their best to actually uphold the law.

Akane Tsunemori from Psycho-Pass is a well-known law-abiding officer, but she is not the only one. Many other law-abiding officers include Officer Jenny, Masumi Nishijima, and Haru Kato. No matter how tough the missions were, or how many times criminals tried bribing them or killing them, these officers upheld the law to the best of their abilities and never gave up.

Akane Tsunemori, as an Inspector, was generally polite, respectful, and compassionate to others. She also viewed herself as cold-hearted and unfeeling thanks to her professionalism and how fast she recovered from traumatic events including the deaths of her grandmother and friend.

Despite her friend dying at the hands of criminal Shogo Makishima, did not kill the criminal out of revenge and just tried arresting them instead. She was so professional during her work that she calmly used her negotiation skills to talk down a criminal who attempted bombing the PSB.

9 Officer Jenny Often Did Her Best To Uphold The Law (Pokémon)

There are multiple Officer Jennys featured in Pokémon as the main police force. Though there are other people in the series that also enforce the law, like Looker, Officer Jenny is the most obvious law-abiding force from the beginning.

Even though she often was a side character in Ash's journey, the world of Pokémon at large would be much less law-abiding if it wasn't for her important, constant efforts to keep the peace and stop any evil villains like Team Rocket.

8 Matsuda Did Not Hesitate To Turn Against Light Yagami After Finding Out He Was Kira (Death Note)

Despite often being used for humorous moments at the beginning of Death Note, Matsuda quickly proved himself to be one of the best members of the Kira Taskforce thanks to his intuition, street smarts, and empathy helping them throughout the investigation. He even survived the events of the entire series, living beyond L and Soichiro Yagami's deaths.

One of Matsuda's most notable actions as an officer was preventing Light Yagami from using the Death Note by shooting him before he could write in a scrap of the note in his watch after Near and the rest of the task force found out that Light was Kira.

7 Rika Minami Saved Civilians From Zombies (Highschool Of The Dead)

Rika Minami was a sniper that worked for the prefectural police and is also the best friend and roommate of Shizuka Marikawa. As chief of the first squadron and an expert sniper in the Special Assault Team, she was sent to clear the Tokonosu Offshore International Airport of any lingering zombies.

She is extremely calm as a person and held a deep respect for her comrades, including requesting that comrade Tajima be promoted posthumously after he sacrificed himself. Her expert skills in firearms were a boon to taking out any and all zombies possible.

6 Akira Mado's Work Was A Significant Boon To Any Mission She Was Part Of (Tokyo Ghoul)

Akira from Tokyo Ghoul was extremely professional in her work and participated in events including the police raid on Kanou's lab after his disappearance, the Anteiku raid during the Owl Suppression Operation, and the Torso investigation. She worked with Ken Kanaki, known to her as Haise Sasaki since he lived under that identity at the time.

She also helped take down Naki and Miza Kusakari during the Auction Mopping-up Operation. Her deep insight and intuition helped determine situations and solve investigations when she was on the field.

5 Misaki Kirihara Tracked Down Contractors And Sought To Find BK201's Identity (Darker Than Black)

Misaki was a police officer investigating Contractors, initially as part of the Public Security Bureau and later as a Section 3 member. She had a strong sense of justice and became a policewoman to defend the weak and others in need of help.

As the Section-Chief of the Foreign Affairs Section 4, Misaki directed the chase of the French Contractor, Louis. After Louis was killed by Hei, she also directed the subsequent investigation. She tracked down many Contractors throughout her work, but her main mission involved finding the true identity of BK201.

4 Masumi Nishijima Became A Chief Investigator After Two Years As A Rookie (Future Diary)

Masumi Nishijima was the chief investigator of the Sakurami Police Force and aided Keigo Kurusu as his subordinate. He was very honest and friendly as a police officer, and he quickly became a chief investigator in the Sakurami City Police Department after working under Keigo Kurusu for only two years as a rookie.

Unlike many other characters in this death game anime, he was unaware of the death game and its players taking place until he learned about it from Minene Uryu, who murdered fellow officer Natsuko Ooshima.

3 Kōichi Zenigata Aspired To Catch Lupin (Lupin III)

Kōichi Zenigata is an incredibly talented police officer who sought to catch and arrest Lupin. Long before meeting Lupin, he was noted to take down countless gangs and criminals, along with finding any potential security flaws.

Unfortunately for him, his impulsive and gullible personality made it easy for Lupin to take advantage and get away scot-free, much to Kōichi's frustration. His obsession with catching Lupin grew so strong that he would even try to investigate Lupin despite no longer being an officer in The Mystery of Mamo. 

2 Haru Kato Is Passionate About His Work As An Officer (Fugou Keiji Balance: Unlimited)

Haru Kato was a hardworking police officer who detested corruption and bribery and also sought to protect anyone in danger to the point of risking his life. He was so dedicated to his duties as an officer that he willingly chose to follow a suspect the entire time despite being exhausted and sleep-deprived at the time.

Despite his dedication to his work, Haru also had many regrets while working, including a traumatic, failed past mission when he worked in Investigation Divison I and being unable to use a gun became of this incident.

1 Kiriko Kamata Investigated Political Corruption (SK8 The Infinity)

Kiriko Kamata was a police inspector and assigned to be in charge of Ainosuke Shindo's political corruption case. Her work led to her catching Representative Takano being involved in shady dealings behind the scenes, and she did all she could to also not let Ainosuke slip away with false testimonies in court.

Unfortunately for Kiriko, her investigation was terminated and she was sent back to Tokyo, thanks to Ainosuke selling out Takano in exchange for dropping the investigation against him.
