AiT/Planet lar and Isotope host Joe Casey in November

Official Press Release

SAN FRANCISCO (November 3, 2003) AiT/Planet Lar publisher Larry Young and James Sime, proprietor of the award-winning San Francisco specialty shop Isotope: the comic book lounge, jointly announced today the appearance of versatile comic book author Joe Casey at the Isotope on November 12th to launch Casey's latest collection, CODEFLESH.

"Joe's an incredible talent in our industry," said Sime. "Few other creators so effortlessly cross the boundaries between hip indy books like HIP FLASK, WILDCATS, and AUTOMATIC KAFKA and his fantastic mainstream fare like the current BATMAN: TENSES mini with Cully Hammer as well as his work on SUPERMAN and UNCANNY X-MEN. It's this sort of guy who's working hardest in comics, and when I read CODEFLESH all at once I insisted on hosting the launch party for it."

"James and Kirsten and Joe and I have cooked up some special treats for this launch party," said AiT/Planet Lar publisher Larry Young. "CODEFLESH artist Charlie Adlard graciously let us display his first twelve pages of original art in the Isotope gallery all this month, for starters. So even if you can't make Joe's event, you can soak up all the CODEFLESH goodness throughout November. As if that isn't enough, James has got the commemorative-signing shirt available, and even Joe himself is in on the act. Casey's offered to perform one page from any comic he's written for any reader who brings in anything of his to sign. I know I'm personally going to get him act out one of his pages of DEATHLOK where SHIELD agent .Larry Young. appears, myself."

"I'm very much looking forward to meeting Joe and putting copies of CODEFLESH into our friends. hands," said Isotope Special Projects Director Kirsten Baldock. "I've read the printers proofs for the collected CODEFLESH, and I think this is definitely the format for it & CODEFLESH is the latest in a long line of timeless hard-boiled, noir adventure heroes, cut from the same cloth as Mike Hammer and Sam Spade, but even more relevant to the present day. We.re very proud to have Joe here on CODEFLESH's 'opening day.'"
