Airship Entertainment/Studio Foglio, Diamond Sign Booktrade Agreement

Official Press Release

Airship Entertainment/Studio Foglio, LLC. has selected Diamond Book Distributors as the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of English-language editions of its graphic novels and books to the bookstore, library, warehouse club, and mass merchandise markets. Diamond will also be Airship's exclusive worldwide distributor to the comics specialty market, with a few exceptions.

Founded in 1993, Studio Foglio, LLC was created for the purpose of promoting the art, writing, and comics of artists Phil and Kaja Foglio. Its main publishing imprint is Airship Entertainment, which has published titles such as Buck Godot - Zap Gun for Hire, What's New? with Phil and Dixie, and the celebrated comic book series Girl Genius. The natural storytelling abilities of these two creators have become more and more apparent with each successive release, and their reputation - especially with female readers - has grown in leaps and bounds. Studio Foglio has also provided artwork for Magic the Gathering.

"Phil and Kaja's contributions to science fiction, comic books, fantasy, and gaming have been impressive on several levels," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. "Their work is accessible to many different walks of life and it shows in the popularity for superb works like Girl Genius."

"Our books have always been very well received in non-traditional comics markets when they could get them," said Phil Foglio. "Working with Diamond is enormously exciting, if only because they seem to have the organizational skills to get our stuff out into that wider world, which was something that we could never quite pull off on our own."

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place Studio Foglio/Airship Entertainment titles across the country.
