The writing duo of Aimee Garcia and former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee, real name AJ Mendez, have reunited for a new Dungeons & Dragons comic book from IDW Publishing, joining forces with artist Martin Coccolo on Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World.

Announced at D&D Live 2020, At the Spine of the World is named for, well, the Spine of the World -- the frozen mountain range located in the Forgotten Realms' Sword Coast. The comic, set to arrive in shops this October, ties into the newly-revealed Dungeons & Dragons tabletop adventure, Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, which itself goes on sale this September.

"Finally we can announce (you guys know how hard it is for me to keep secrets) [AJ Mendez] and I are writing [Dungeons & Dragons]!!!" Garcia wrote on Twitter. Garcia also shared an illustration of the comics' main protagonist. "When you and [AJ Mendez] create a diverse hero for [Dungeons & Dragons]... [and] and wanna be her when you grow up. Create the change you want to see," she said. "Meet Runa." Additionally, Mendez shared a video recounting the announcement, as well as asking fans to support Red Nose Day.

Garcia is primarily known for her work in acting, having starred on such shows as George Lopez, Dexter and Lucifer. Mendez, meanwhile, came up in the professional wrestling scene, beginning her in-ring career in 2007 before retiring in 2015. The two previously co-wrote the IDW comic book limited series, GLOW vs. The Babyface, based on the hit wrestling-themed Netflix series GLOW. Comics are a common interest in Mendez's household, with her husband -- fellow ex-wrestler CM Punk -- having previously penned stories for Marvel.
