Star Wars icon Dave Filoni knows how Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker first met, but he hasn't found a place to tell the story yet.

Speaking to Screen Rant alongside fellow executive producer Jon Favreau at Star Wars Celebration, Filoni discussed the two fan-favorite characters and the tale he has in mind for them. "Yeah, I have a whole story about that that I devised many years ago actually," Filoni said. "I had to put that tile in place to do what I'm doing now and understand it. I haven't found a way to tell that story yet. I told a piece of it afterward, but yeah, we'll see. You'd love it, it's a great story."

A touching moment for Star Wars fans occurs in The Book of Boba Fett's sixth episode when Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) goes to see Grogu, the force-sensitive child he left in Luke's hands at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2. When he arrives, he is met by Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), the former padawan of Luke's father, Anakin Skywalker. She tells Djarin that she is an "old friend of the family" and later shares a conversation with Luke, saying that he is a lot like Anakin and offers advice before bidding him farewell.

There are many details about Anakin that Luke and Ahsoka could share with each other, being that Ahsoka knows how Anakin was as a teacher and during the Clone Wars, while Luke witnessed his redemption and return to the light side of the Force in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). Whether fans will ever see the two discussing these things and if Filoni's envisioned meeting for them includes similar conversations remains to be seen as of writing

Dawson is set to reprise her role as the titular character in Ahsoka on Disney+. Footage shown at Star Wars Celebration points towards the series picking up a cliffhanger left by the animated Star Wars Rebels show: where Jedi Ezra Bridger wound up in the galaxy. Ezra was last seen getting launched into Hyperspace alongside the Galactic Empire's Grand Admiral Thrawn in the series finale of Rebels. During Ahsoka's live-action debut in The Mandalorian, she is seen searching for Thrawn and where he is after the fall of the Empire.

There have been no announcements on whether Luke will return in Ahsoka at this time. The character was returned to live-action in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett by using actor Mark Hamill's voice and digitally placing his face onto a body double with CGI. Of course, Filoni could find a place for the story of their first meeting in animation. A new animated show, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, displayed its first footage at Star Wars Celebration as well, and the anthology series will include episodes focusing on different points in Ahsoka's life.

The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Star Wars Rebels are available to stream on Disney+. Ahsoka is expected to release in 2023, and Tales of the Jedi in Fall 2022.
