The upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka will reportedly introduce a brand-new galaxy to Star Wars universe.

According to the Star Wars news site Bespin Bulletin, Ahsoka will add a new galaxy, not explored in any previous projects, to the canon. Apparently, the new galaxy is being referred to as the "New Beyond" or "New Space," but it is unclear whether one of those is the official name, or nicknames used by those involved in the show. Additionally, the report claims that the Force will be viewed differently in this new galaxy, and that certain "magic" users that have already been introduced may have actually originated from there.

A live-action version of fan favorite character Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson, debuted in Episode 5 of The Mandalorian's second season, titled "The Jedi." In the episode, after besting Morgan Elsbeth in combat, Ahsoka demanded she reveal the location Grand Admiral Thrawn. According to the report, Elsbeth has connections to this new galaxy, and it is where Thrawn and Ezra Bridger have been since the events of Star Wars Rebels.

Ahsoka Will Take Star Wars Fans Into the Unknown

The character of Ahsoka Tano was created by Dave Filoni and George Lucas for the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka became a major player in the subsequent animated series of the same name before making appearances in Rebels, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Filoni wrote and directed many episodes of the series, and has stated it is everything he could have hoped for. Often praised by fans for his work on the Star Wars animated series, Filoni stated he never imagined having the chance to work on a live-action show. "To have a character that's just come up over the years with a lot of fans as they've grown up and now she's at the point where we can do this, it’s wonderful to be this same person guiding it across the different mediums, I think lends a consistency to the character that's very uncommon," he said.

Dawson, who will portray Ahsoka as she hunts for Thrawn, has also praised her character's upcoming solo series. The actor claimed she had her birthday on the project, and it was the best birthday gift ever to just be able to work on the show and portray a character that is so important to the fans. Dawson added that she hopes the show will be green-lit for a second season.

Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
