More details have been revealed about actor Ivanna Sakhno's role in Disney+'s upcoming Ahsoka series.

A report by The Illuminerdi elaborated Sakhno will play a character known simply as Astrid. She is described as a "formidable mercenary" who "can either follow the path of her unit or take hold of her own aspiration in service of her own glory." It's unknown how Astrid will cross paths with Ashoka Tano, whose mission was teased at the end of "Chapter 13: The Jedi" in The Mandalorian Season 2.

Rosario Dawson's portrayal of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian marked the character's first canonical live-action appearance, where Anakin Skywalker's former padawan appeared in animated form in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, voiced by Ashley Eckstein. Ahsoka's live-action debut followed that of former Mandalorian leader Bo-Katan Kryze, who appeared in "Chapter 11: The Heiress" and, like Ahsoka, was created specifically for The Clone Wars but later saw her story continued in Dave Filoni's Star Wars Rebels.

The Ahsoka spinoff will also serve as a continuation of events from Rebels, with Ahsoka tracking down the whereabouts of Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger and Imperial military commander Grand Admiral Thrawn, both of whom were last seen being pulled into hyperspace during Rebels' series finale. The show is expected to begin production this winter.

Dawson confirmed earlier this year that Aladdin's Mena Massoud will play Ezra, while Lars Mikkelsen will reprise his Rebels role as Thrawn. The latter, a beloved antagonist from the Star Wars Expanded Universe/Legends timeline, was later reincorporated by Filoni into Rebels' Disney continuity, serving as a primary foe for the Rebel Alliance and Ghost Crew for Seasons 3 and 4. Another hero from Rebels, Mandalorian Alliance member Sabine Wren, will also appear in Ahsoka, played by Guns Akimbo star Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

Alongside the Rebels characters, it was recently confirmed that Star Wars prequel actor Hayden Christensen will join Ahsoka as Anakin Skywalker following his Obi-Wan Kenobi appearance. This marks the first time the actor has played the role since 2005's Revenge of the Sith.

Another prequel-era character reportedly appearing on Ahsoka is Barriss Offee, a former Jedi Padawan who befriended Ahsoka in The Clone Wars, but later framed her for murder in the Season 5 finale. This experience eventually led to Ahsoka leaving both the Jedi Order and Anakin until the events Season 7's final Mandalore arc.

Ahsoka has yet to receive a premiere date.
