Ahsoka star Ivanna Sakhno opened up about her time working with the late Ray Stevenson.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Sakhno recalled Stevenson's friendly antics on set. "Ray would constantly make noises," Sakhno said. "I remember the first scene that we were filming, [Ray] came up with a song for Shin. I can't say too much of the scene itself, but Ray would just constantly walk around like, 'Who let the Shin out? Who, who, who…?"

The Passing of Ray Stevenson

Sakhno plays the enigmatic Force-user Shin Hati in the upcoming Star Wars series and is set to pose a major threat to its heroes alongside Stevenson's Baylan Skoll. Stevenson, whose career ran a gamut of roles from the more dramatic, such as 1998's The Theory of Flight opposite Helana Bonham Carter, to explosive features including 2008's Punisher: War Zone as the titular antihero, tragically passed away on May 22 at the age of 58. Stevenson previously starred in another role in the Star Wars franchise as the voice of Gar Saxon on the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Rosario Dawson, who stars as Ahsoka's titular Jedi, previously described Stevenson as "a giant of a man" in a social media post that included several behind-the-scenes photos with her late co-star. Dawson left off with a heartfelt, "At a loss for words… just wanted to mark this moment and share your ever-ready and present smile. Love you forever. Holding your family in my heart."

The Expanding Star Wars TV Universe

Ahsoka will continue expanding the overarching story that began with The Mandalorian, which director and writer Dave Filoni is set to wrap up with his currently untitled Star Wars team-up film. Filoni said of the film, "It's going to be a clamoring of characters saying, 'How do I get in this picture?" Jon Favreau offered that while certain concessions had to be made in order for so many series and spinoffs to fit together neatly, "I think one thing we're in agreement about is that the characters — as special as they are — the story has to drive what characters are."

Filoni's film was announced as one of three new Star Wars features that will be set between the "deep past," in the case of James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi, all the way to "15 years after the events of Rise of Skywalker" for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's film. In late April, it was reported that the latter film had lost its lead, rumored to be Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, news which came only a week after the confirmation that fan-favorite Daisy Ridley would be returning as Rey Skywalker for the project.

Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ in August.
