Ahsoka Tano is one of the most popular Star Wars characters, and her upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka looks to be delivering one of the character's last untold stories. That has many fans wondering if it will be the last time they see Ahsoka -- and so, if the series will give a definitive end to the character. While a proper on-screen death may honor Ahsoka if the series is her final appearance, it also may not be necessary to the story or for the fans to see.

Ahsoka was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and was assigned to Anakin Skywalker as his padawan. While it took a bit for fans to warm up to her, she quickly became one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars. Her story has spanned multiple eras and fans are always thrilled whenever she's included in new content. After her appearance in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, it was announced that she would be getting her own series, which many viewers suspect will be acting as a sequel to the events of Star Wars Rebels.

While many Ahsoka fans would like to see their hero's story get a proper conclusion, it's hard to say if that ending needs to include her death. Ahsoka has endured a lot: being wrongly accused by the Jedi Order, surviving Order 66, and fighting against her old master and best friend (whose role in the show is still undefined). While giving her an on-screen death would provide her with a definitive ending, it also may be too much for viewers to endure. While many fans suspect she is dead by the time The Rise of Skywalker takes place, it doesn't mean that she needs to die in her own show. She could be killed off-screen or in a comic or animated series.

Killing Ahsoka in the first season of her series also limits the storytelling possibilities. While it's currently unknown if Ahsoka is going to last for multiple seasons or be a limited series like Hawkeye, fans are hoping to see as much of the character as possible. If the studio commits to her death, then her ability to influence other stories and characters also ends. Alternatively, depending on the circumstances of her death, her sacrifice could galvanize characters into action and spur them forward into accomplishing greater things. Ahsoka's death would be a tragic loss to the franchise, but if the show is indeed her last appearance, the character deserves a heroic send-off.

But a death isn't always necessary in order to close the chapter on a character's story. As long as they have accomplished their goals and completed their quests, they can settle down and leave their old lives behind in search for a quieter existence. While that kind of peaceful resolution can provide a satisfying ending for a character, it's harder to leave them on the sidelines for future adventures. In a universe like Star Wars, fans are always expecting cameos and looking for characters to return. If the franchise is really looking to close out the story of Ahsoka, her death may be the only way to accomplish that.

Ahsoka Tano has a storied history in Star Wars. She started out as just an apprentice, but became essential to the fabric of the franchise. Her story helps to make so many others feel connected to Star Wars, and Bryce Dallas Howard has already gone on record as saying her series will satisfy fans. While it would be devastating to see, giving Ahsoka a worthy death at the conclusion of her own series may be the only way to properly and completely close out her time in the Star Wars universe.
