After teasing a surprise for fans just yesterday, Marvel and ABC have released the first seventeen minutes of the season five premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which explains how Coulson and crew -- with one exception -- find themselves in space.
The opening, which is wonderfully set to the Talking Heads, brings us back to the season four finale as Coulson and the others were kidnapped while out at Rae's diner. After being frozen, the team wakes to find themselves face to face with a monolith much different than any we've seen before. It's this monolith that sends the team off into space and aboard a ship, where they all struggle to figure out where they're at and just why they're there.
Noticeably absent from the opening sequence are Daisy "Quake" Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and Leopold Fitz (Ian De Caestecker). While Fitz was left back at the diner, having apparently not been "on the list," Quake was taken along with the others and is more than likely trying to find the others aboard the ship.
Premiering December 1 at 8 pm ET on ABC, the fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Ian De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge, Nick Blood, Jeff Ward, Eve Harlow, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Coy Stewart.
