The Agents of Shield series is set in the Marvel cinematic universe, where Phil Coulson is in charge of handling strange new cases with his team. Throughout the series, the team finds new superheroes and fights villains like Hydra, Inhumans, Graviton, Aida, and more. S.H.I.E.L.D. is a specialized group that is responsible for protecting the citizens of the world after it is revealed that super-humans, gods, and aliens exist in Avengers.
To protect the world from all this evil, there are some heroes that shine through. Some characters, however, had a more gripping presence than others and they are well enough in their own might that they could easily climb up the ladders and join the team of Avengers.
10 The Skillful Bobbi Morse
Not only is Bobbi (also known as Mockingbird) a warm person, but she is also fierce and fiery at the same time. She portrays herself as a leader on every occasion and also has a wealth of experience (on-field and off-field) having been trained under Nick Fury.
Lovingly described as the "Black Widow of S.H.I.E.L.D." by fans, her addition to the Marvel franchise would be extremely fruitful seeing that Black Widow is no longer alive. On the other hand, S.H.I.E.L.D. would need to recruit someone just as excellent as her because Bobbi's absence would definitely leave a huge dent on the team.
9 The Fire-Charged Robbie Reyes (a.k.a Ghost Rider)
Initially being confused as a villain by S.H.I.E.L.D., Robbie Reyes quickly showed the team that he can be a trusted ally and that his powers are necessary for the team to succeed in their missions. Being possessed with the Spirit of Vengeance gives him the ability to access hell-fire, which he only uses to kill those who are guilty.
Even though he's a good guy at heart, his name is associated with dread throughout Los Angeles. He is also equipped with other superhuman abilities and can access all powers of hell which indefinitely make him one of the most celebrated heroes in the Marvel universe. The Avengers would be proud to have him.
8 The In-House Superhero, Quake
Chloe Bennet's character, Quake, is one of the most powerful characters to be introduced in the show. The potential of her powers and superhero abilities are truly unknown, however, she is most commonly known for being able to create earthquakes (and hence the name).
It is also revealed that she has the powers to split Earth in its entirety, and that she belongs to the Inhumans race. She has also shown to be extremely loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D., a charming characteristic which in itself makes her one of the best assets to have on the team.
7 Marvel's Flash, Yo-Yo Rodriguez
In the comics, Yo-Yo's presence has already been established far before the introduction of S.H.I.E.L.D. In the television adaption, Yo-Yo is known to be one of the most promising characters who has helped the agents fight against Hydra and Hive.
She is especially known for her super-speed abilities and although she is nowhere as quick as Quicksilver, she's still pretty fast. Like Quake, Yo-Yo is also an Inhuman and has been a notable character throughout the series. With Quicksilver gone, Yo-Yo is the best superhero the Avengers would have that has super-speed powers.
6 The Guy Who Kills Gordon, Alphonso Mackenzie
Alphonso Mackenzie, lovingly known as Mack, is a mechanical engineer who was formerly an important part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s engineering division. Throughout the series, he has established that not only can he be relied on, but he also has an unnerving loyalty for his team members.
In the finale of season 5, Mack also stepped up to fill in the shoes of Phil Coulson —this decision was supported and encouraged by Daisy. Mack has been with S.H.I.E.L.D. for a long time and has taken on many important roles during his time— his introduction to Avengers is practically necessary.
5 The Genius Agent, Leo Fitz
Bearing the title of a master engineer, a daring scientist, and a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Leo Fitz is known to be the genius of the group. Although he has his own issues, Fitz is the one team member everyone turns to look at whenever there's a crisis —and when those moments arise, he's always risen to the occasion.
He joined the academy at 16, and since then a lot has changed in his life but he has always remained loyal to the cause. At the end of the day, his brains are what make him invaluable, and he would certainly make a nice addition to the MCU.
4 Jemma Simmons, The Other Genius
Jemma Simmons, the wife of Leo Fitz, is the only one who truly understands and is able to connect with Leo. Aside from her lovable personality, Jemma is also one of the smartest members of the team. Not only does she take on the role of being one of the top scientific minds in S.H.I.E.L.D, but she is also fairly commonly seen on the field.
After being stranded on planet Maveth, Jemma essentially changes as a person. However, her abilities remain just the same. Although she is a rusty fighter, her brains make her one of the best assets to have on the team.
3 Melinda May, a.k.a The Cavalry
Although Melinda has retired from her job, her love for it still calls her back occasionally. She has been established as one of the main characters in the series, and her character presently works as an administrator. However, when it comes to fieldwork, she's one of the most revered names out there.
Little information is known about her past lifestyle but it is said that she was a legendary field operative who was nicknamed "The Cavalry." She also entirely has Nick Fury's trust as he puts her on the team to keep an eye on Phil Coulson, who is yet recovering.
2 Aida, A Product Of Artificial Intelligence
Aida is an abbreviation of Artificially Intelligent Digital Assistant. She is a Life-Model decoy made by Radcliffe, and although she is a robot, she has an agenda of her own. Much like Vision or Ultron, she is able to create her own synthetic human body.
At the same time, she also has super-human abilities like teleportation, super strength, healing factor, electricity manipulation, multilingualism, etc. Although Aida no longer serves on the "good side" of things, she used to have a better side to her. Her powers are immaculate and an argument can be made that if she weren't corrupted, she would've turned into a positive character who would've undoubtedly been an asset.
1 Phil Coulson, The Fan-Favorite Agent
The director of S.H.I.E.L.D, Phil Coulson, is one of the most beloved characters in the series. Although he was briefly introduced in Iron Man, his presence remained none too noteworthy. This changes in the television show, where the audience gets to see how well Phil can hold his stand and still be the lovable well-mannered guy.
Although he is no superhero, he is one of the smartest and most capable members of the team. His leadership skills that are driven by a mix of power and empathy prove that he is more than just another S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
